Velvet Crop Top in the Summer

DIY Bralette
So I did a thing and sewed my first actual piece of clothing that has nothing to do with cosplay. Came out pretty dandy if I say so myself.

 Summer outfit of the day

So.. here it is. My little bralette/crop top. I was inspired to make one after browsing "A pair and a spare"  she has such amazing DIYs on her site.  I have had this velvet fabric for some time now. It has a nice little stretch to it. My original plan was to make a cute skater skirt out of it, however after the disaster that happened with the other velvet fabric I decided against it.  Plus I was not about to waste some 15 dollar a yard fabric on something that was going to be a potential failure.

The straps are a faux leather material made for trims. I really love the look of it with the velvet. I would show the back but its pretty tragic, due to it not being lined up...oops.  I am proud and love this little guy to death. Thankfully I have enough material to make an improved version of this. The cups could be moved over a bit more and a wee bit bigger, I have to fix the way I sew the straps on and the lover half of the top.  As you can see the difference when I wear a bra with it versus without.  My girls do look nice though.  Don't ask why I look so angry in the last photo...it was a long day.

I am looking forward to making some more neat little pieces for myself. I may even sell some..maybe.
